Completed fitted carpet installation on a bright residential staircase

Mobile showroom, expert advice, measuring, preparation and fitting across Tipperary and Limerick.

Beige stair runner with black edging fitted on a residential staircase — Stair runners are measured around turns, landings, edging and finishing details before ordering.

Why choose this range

Practical flooring advice before product selection.

Carpet can make bedrooms, stairs and living spaces warmer and quieter, but the finished result depends on accurate measuring, suitable underlay and experienced fitting.

Warm and comfortable underfoot

Good acoustic performance for bedrooms, stairs and living spaces

Wide choice of colours, textures and budgets

Suitable for stairs and landings when fitted correctly

Measured around joins, waste, thresholds and pile direction

Carpet buying guide

Start with how the room will be used.

Carpet names describe appearance and construction, but the correct choice also depends on room traffic, comfort, cleaning expectations, stairs, underlay and the individual product specification. Use this guide to narrow the choice, then check the product page or ask Dave before ordering.

Soft, relaxed rooms

Saxony

A deep, smooth cut-pile look often chosen where softness and a more luxurious appearance matter. Depending on fibre and colour, footprints and shading may be more visible.

Versatile family use

Twist

A textured cut pile made from twisted yarn. It is a practical starting point for many living spaces, halls and stairs when the chosen product carries the suitable use rating.

Texture and definition

Loop

Uncut loops create a textured, often firmer surface. Loop carpets can suit busy spaces, but homes with snagging risks should discuss suitability before choosing.

Flecked, practical character

Berber

Berber is used for several flecked or textured carpet looks rather than one guaranteed construction. Always check the exact fibre, pile and room-use specification.

Carpet type	Typical feel and appearance	Good starting point for	Check before choosing
Saxony	Soft, smooth and deep-looking cut pile.	Bedrooms and relaxed living spaces.	Footprints, shading, maintenance and the product's traffic rating.
Twist	Textured cut pile with a versatile appearance.	Living rooms, halls and stairs where the product rating permits.	Traffic class, pile density, backing, fibre and cleaning guidance.
Loop	Textured surface formed from uncut loops.	Spaces where texture and a firmer feel are preferred.	Snagging risk, stairs, pets and exact manufacturer suitability.
Berber	Usually flecked or textured; construction varies by product.	Customers seeking practical visual texture.	Do not assume fibre or construction from the name alone.

Room and traffic selector

Match comfort to the traffic level.

Bedrooms

Comfort and softness can lead the decision, provided the product is suitable for the expected use and cleaning needs.

Living rooms

Balance comfort with everyday wear, furniture movement, cleaning and how much shading or texture you prefer.

Halls, stairs and landings

These are concentrated traffic areas. Confirm stair suitability, secure fitting, underlay, pile direction and the individual product's use rating.

Home office or commercial use

Chair movement and sustained traffic can change the requirement. Use only products whose specification supports the intended setting.

Pile and material guidance

Feel the sample, then verify the specification.

Pile height changes the feel and appearance, but it does not determine quality on its own. Density, yarn, backing, construction, use rating and correct fitting all matter. Deeper pile can feel softer; shorter or firmer piles can be easier to manage in busy areas.

Wool

Natural resilience and a premium feel; check blend, cleaning guidance and room suitability.

Polypropylene

Often selected for practical stain resistance; follow the individual product's care and use guidance.

Polyester

Can provide softness and strong colour; durability and cleaning performance depend on the product.

Blends

Combine fibres for a particular balance of feel, appearance and performance. Check the stated composition.

Measuring and carpet calculator

Use room dimensions to estimate; use a measure to order.

Measure the widest points

Record the maximum length and width of each room, including alcoves and door areas. Keep rooms separate.

Open a carpet product

Select the available width and enter the room dimensions in the product calculator. It plans sale quantity using the product's governed width data.

Confirm before ordering

Stairs, multiple rooms, joins, doorways and unusual shapes need installer review. A home measure confirms the final cutting and fitting plan.

Choose a carpet and use its calculator Book a home measure

Underlay guidance

Choose carpet and underlay as one fitted system.

Underlay influences comfort, acoustic performance and how the fitted carpet feels. The correct option depends on the carpet, room, subfloor, door clearance and any relevant heating requirement. Existing underlay should be inspected rather than assumed suitable.

Compare carpet underlay Browse flooring accessories

Preparation, fitting and delivery

Plan the room before the carpet arrives.

Preparation

The subfloor should be dry, stable and free from problems that could affect gripper, underlay, thresholds or the finished surface. Door clearance and furniture arrangements should be discussed in advance.

Fitting options

Arra Flooring offers an installer-led supply-and-fit journey. The fitting plan can cover rooms, stairs, landings, joins, thresholds and finishing accessories after measuring.

Delivery and timing

Availability and installation timing depend on the selected carpet, supplier stock, room preparation and fitting schedule. Dave confirms the realistic sequence before commitment.

Local service

The mobile showroom, measuring and fitting service covers Tipperary and Limerick, with other suitable projects considered individually.

Carpet questions

Answers before you choose.

Which carpet is best for stairs?

Choose only a carpet whose specification supports stair use. Traffic rating, pile, backing, underlay and secure fitting all matter, so stairs should be measured before ordering.

What is the difference between Saxony and twist carpet?

Saxony generally has a deeper, smoother cut-pile appearance, while twist carpet has a more textured cut pile. Exact performance depends on fibre, density, backing and the individual product rating.

Do I need new underlay with a new carpet?

Not automatically, but existing underlay should be inspected. Compressed, damaged or unsuitable underlay can reduce comfort and affect the finished result.

Can I order carpet from my own measurements?

The product calculator provides an estimate from the dimensions and governed roll width. A professional measure is recommended before ordering for stairs, joins, several rooms or unusual layouts.

How quickly can Arra Flooring fit carpet?

Timing depends on product availability, supplier stock, preparation and the fitting schedule. Dave confirms the expected sequence after the carpet and rooms are assessed.

Does patterned carpet require a different calculator?

No. Arra Flooring currently uses the governed plain-carpet calculation method because verified pattern-repeat data is unavailable. Any special visual alignment can be reviewed during measuring.

Installer-led advice

Measure first if the room is not straightforward.

Roll widths vary by product. Check the product page or request a measure for accurate guidance. Quantity depends on room size, available roll width, joins, pile direction, stairs and waste.

Common questions

Answers before you browse.

Can Arra Flooring measure before I order?

Yes. Dave can bring selected samples where available, measure the room, assess the subfloor and provide a supplied-and-fitted quotation.

How is carpet sold?

Carpet is usually cut from roll widths. Cut products cannot be returned unless faulty, and standard stocked products are handled in accordance with Irish consumer law.

Do I need new underlay?

Often yes. Underlay affects comfort, acoustics and lifespan, so it should be checked during the measure.

Complete the flooring system

What else might the room need?

The surface flooring is only one part of a successful installation. Use these next steps to identify what may be needed, then ask Arra Flooring where product or subfloor compatibility is not yet confirmed.

CONDITIONALLY REQUIRED

Underlay and gripper

New underlay is not automatic. Existing underlay, carpet backing, room use and the fitting method should be checked before choosing underlay or gripper.

CONDITIONALLY REQUIRED

Doorways and stairs

Transitions, carpet-to-carpet or carpet-to-hard-floor profiles, stair details and edging depend on the adjoining finishes and measured floor heights.

Measure, preparation and fitting
